Dinghy Sailing
The SGBA owns a fleet of sailing dinghies, 7 Toppers, 6 Laser Bugs, 6 Laser Picos, a Laser, a 420, and a Wanderer. All members, when they have demonstrated their competency on the water may use the club dinghies for free. Members must always wear a lifejacket, remain responsible for those they take sailing and must comply with the terms and conditions of using club boats.
This season's summer sailing programme.
Sunday Sailing
Throughout the spring, summer and early autumn we have a programme of Sunday sailing. Members can just come along to Mill Point, rig up and take out an SGBA sailing dinghy, rowing boat or canoe, or join us in their own boat.
Sunday sailings are co-ordinated by the Officer of the Day (usually a Committee member or experienced sailor), who is responsible for ensuring the safety boat is on the water and keeping track of who is out in which dinghies. Having satisfied the Officer of the Day that you are competent on the water you will be free to take out any of the club dinghies.
Although there is always a safety boat on duty, members remain responsible for their own safety at all time and children must not be left unattended during Sunday sailings. Everyone taking a club owned boat out must wear a lifejacket at all times.
Sailing when you want
If you have satisfied the Quartermaster or Bosun that you are competent on the water, and you have combination lock code from the Membership Secretary you can take out the clubs dinghies whenever you want. Remember you must always wear a life jacket, you are responsible for anyone in the dinghy and you must report any damage or missing equipment to the Bosun. Please read the guidelines on using the club boats before using any club boat.

There is a group of keen dinghy sailors who meet thought the summer months on a weekday evening. The day changes weekly depending the tides. If you are interested in joining the group, contact the Sailing Secretary.

Towards the middle of September every year, the SGBA holds its annual regatta. A day of dinghy and rowing racing, the regatta is the culmination of the year's Sunday sailings.
The main event is a race up and down the river off Mill Point for the dinghies and keel boats. Everyone can enter in their own boat or a club dinghy (although it is often wise to reserve the dinghy you want to race).

| During Sunday Sailings, if enough experienced sailors are on the water, the Officer of the Day will set up a dinghy race. Also summer evening sailing is often in the form of an informal race. |
If you are more serious about your racing, several club members regularly take club boats down river to Dittisham for their Wednesday summer evening racing programme. For more information contact Sailing Secretary.
