2) Buoyancy aids must be worn at all times whilst using SGBA craft.

3) Adult members of the club (those over 16 years) may use the sailing dinghies without being accompanied by a rescue boat.

4) Junior members (under 16 years) may:

5) Prior to their first use of the motor boats members should receive a briefing on its operation. That person is then recognised as an accredited helmsman. This can be arranged with Ken Kies.

a) Use one club dinghy provided their parents or guardians are in attendance in the Rescue Boat or other suitable craft. This craft should be of a type that, in the event of a capsize or other mishap, would enable the junior member to be retrieved from the water and the dinghy towed back to shore.

b) Use two or more club dinghies as long as an SGBA rescue boat, with at least two adults on board, accompanies them and there is an accredited helmsman in charge.

c) Use the kayaks provided they are accompanied by an adult (in either a kayak, SGBA motor boat or other suitable craft).

6) The normal sailing area for the dinghies is from Duncannon and /or Tuckenhay to the Anchor Stone. Exceptionally, an extension to this area may be agreed with the booking officer.

7) The normal area limit for use of the rescue boats is Totnes to Dartmouth.

8) The charge for the motor boats is £5 per session between Pighole Point and Duncannon and £10 for a session further afield.  No boat should be taken beyond Dartmouth.  Payment should be placed in a named envelope and posted or handed to the River Shack.

No charge is made currently for the sailing dinghies, but a contribution towards their up keep would be appreciated. This can also be left at the River Shack in an envelope.

9) Any breakages or defects on the motor boats should be reported to the Quartermaster (Ken Kies) as soon as possible.

10) Any breakages or missing or defective gear on the sailing dinghies or canoes should be reported to the Bosun, Tim Sunderland (details above).

11) If you use a club dinghy please ensure that when you return it you securely attach to either the standing chain or the rail (Pico’s) using either the supplied lock or the boat's painter. This will ensure that the boats will not be damaged or lost during high spring tides. Thank you.
