Tides

Wind, weather and tides are crucial to any boating trip, especially in Stoke Gabriel where the creek dries at low water on spring tides.
Before planning any trip check the tides and weather.

Since October 2010, Stoke Gabriel (Duncannon) has had its own official tidal predictions. Predicted times of high and low water up to December 2011 are now available in a booklet from Stoke Gabriel Post Office, the Village Stores, the Garage, the Church House Inn or the River Shack. The booklet contains other useful information about local tidal conditions and costs £2 - all proceeds go to the SGBA.
It includes an aerial photograph of the creek at low water, showing the channel which is not easily discernible at mid tide.

Stoke Gabriel is now included in the Admirality's Easytide predictor, but be aware it is only free for tides up to seven days in advance.

Neil Millward has calculated the times at which the
foreshore is accessible
. Remember, members can use the High Water Path and new wooden steps into the quarry at high water, but please respect that the path runs through private property.

Current Tide Levels

You can now see current real time tide levels, along with the concurrent predictions from UKHO, in our three local ports:

Stoke Gabriel (Dunncannon)
Dartmouth
Totnes

These tidal measurements are courtesy of Valeport Ltd in Totnes, to whom we are extremely grateful.

Please note that the historic, left-hand portion of the graph is scaled to the left hand axis numbers whereas the right-hand axis refers to predictions only, i.e. future time.
